Sossusvlei Experience – Your Desert Escape
Short tour to Sossusvlei – a place of the highest dunes on Earth, inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage list – an attractive option for weekend adventure or quick desert getaway. Perfect trip for those, who love breathtaking views, scenic photographic vistas and closeness to nature!

Pick up at 8 am from any hotel/lodge situated in Windhoek and directly on the way south to world-famous Sossusvlei via scenic Spreetshoogte Pass. Stop-over at the view point to admire endless panorama of the Namib. En route, lunch at the Solitaire oasis. Arrival at the lodge or campsite around 3 pm. In the afternoon, visit to the fascinating rock formation of the Sesriem Canyon and late afternoon, climbing Elim Dune overlooking scenic desert horizon. Evening dinner tops-up the adventures of the first day.
Distance: 350 km on gravel road
Accommodation (choice of various standards): 2 nights at Solitaire Guest Farm, Solitaire Country Lodge, Betesda Lodge, Sossusvlei Lodge, Sossus Dune Lodge, Le Mirage, Moon Mountain Lodge, Little Kulala or Sesriem Camp.
Early morning, at sunrise, on route through the Sesriem Gate to spectacular Sossusvlei. We start off with climbing picturesque Dune 45, experiencing beauty and vastness of the orange-colored landscape. Off-road drive to the surreal Dead Vlei, a place of vast desert pan where dried-up, ancient acacias stand silent in the impressive, open-air gallery. If you wish, you can take on climbing one of the highest dunes on Earth, the ‚Big Daddy’ or ‚Big Mama’. 360 degrees, panoramic views of the ‚Sea of Sand’ are incredible! Sossusvlei and Dead Vlei are considered to be one of the most photogenic and some of the most photographed places on Earth!
En route, you can observe occasional wildlife: ostriches, oryx, bat-eared foxes, springboks, possibly cheetah and various birds inhabiting the desert. In the afternoon, time for rest and relaxation in the quiet atmosphere of the Namib.
Meals: breakfast, dinner.
After breakfast, departure to Windhoek through scenic Spreetshoogte Pass. On route, stop-over at Solitaire. Arrival at the capital before lunch. We will drop you off at the hotel/lodge of your choice.
