Day 1

Welcome to the African land! We will pick you up from Hosea Kutako International Airport in Namibia and travel south to Mariental.

Meals: dinner at the lodge.

Accommodation: 1 night at the lodge.

Distance: around 250 km (tarred road).

Duration: around 3 hours with the stop-overs.

Day 2

Travelling on, further south to the town-oasis Keetmanshoop situated amidst Kalahari Desert.

Meals: breakfast, dinner.

Accommodation: 1 night at the hotel in Keetmanshoop.

Distance: around 250 km (tarred road).

Duration: around 3 hours with the stop-overs.

Quiver Tree Forest

Giant’s Playground (spectacular rock formation).

Day 3

Visit at the Fish River Canyon, second largest canyon in the World (after the Grand Canyon in US). Main viewing points provide spectacular place for stunning landscape photography! Early morning or at the sunset, canyon and surrounding desert comes to alive with hues and shades of light – providing inspiring, artistic vistas.

Meals: breakfast, dinner.

Accommodation: 1 night at the lodge near Fish River Canyon.

Distance: around 250 km (tarred and gravel roads).

Duration: around 4 hours with the stop-overs.

Day 4

On trail of the desert horses (Feral Horses of Namibia), which have incredibly adapted to the harsh, dry and unmerciful desert conditions. Admiring these incredible creatures, we are charmed by the ever changing landscape, unending, scenic beauty of the Namib. You will spend the night at the safari lodge, set in spectacular, rocky hills and surrounded by the calming desert.

Accommodation: 1 night at the lodge, near small town of Aus.
Distance: 300 km (tarred and gravel roads).
Duration: around 5 hours with the stop-overs.

Day 5 and 6

After breakfast, journey to small, coastal town of Luderitz, situated on the Atlantic Coast. On route, stop-over around 10 km from Luderitz, at the historical ‚Ghost Town’ of Kolmanskoop, deserted in the sands after famous ‚diamond rush’. Short visit to the historical monument, a granite cross, known as the Diaz Cross, set in the sands of the Namib by Portuguese sailor Diaz, when he first landed at the Namibian coast centuries ago.

Accommodation: 2 nights at the hotel in Luderitz.

Distance: around 250 km (tarred roads).

Duration: around 3 hours with the stop-overs.

Optional activity, not included in the tour’s price:

1 hr cruise (weather permitting) and/or trip to the Agate Beach, where Atlantic deposits semi-precious ‚agate’ stones right onto the sand.

Day 7

Sossusvlei – the highest and the oldest dunes in the World. On route we are admiring picturesque vistas and incredible, desert landscape. After the long day’s drive, you are comfortably settled for dinner and rest at the desert lodge near the Sossusvlei.

Accommodation: 2 nights at the lodge near Sossusvlei.
Distance: around 400 km (tarred and gravel roads).
Duration: around 7 hours with the stop-overs.

Day 8

Early morning, in the light of the raising sun, quiet meditation of spectacular, orange dunes. Visit to the Dead Vlei (valley) where dried up acacias stand among the high dunes in the heart of the desert. Spaciousness, magnificence and soothing calm of this part of the desert imprint lasting memories in your heart. Excellent occasion for a unique photographic moment. Dunes of Sossusvlei are considered to be one of the most photogenic and some of the most photographed places on Earth!

Distance: around 100 km (gravel roads).

Day 9

In the morning departure to Windhoek, vibrant capital of Namibia. On route, plenty of time for the last curio shopping, visit at the local, open-air craft market and taking last photographs of the African savanna. Wishing you a ‚safe journey’ and many happy returns with Wild Wind Safaris!
