Detailed Itinerary

Day 1 

Welcome on African soil at OR Thambo International Airport in Johannesburg. Drive-through tour of Johannesburg, afterwards we are travelling east in direction of Kruger National Park, travelling through scenic Drakensberg Mountains and God’s Window, Blyde River Canyon, third largest in the world, Bourke’s Luck Potholes, Three Rondavels.

Accommodation: for 2 nights at the lodge located 100 m from entrance gate of the Kruger National Park.

Distance: around 450 km on tar roads.

Meals: dinner.

Day 2   

Entire day at Kruger National Park, travelling in open vehicle, we are observing wildlife in natural environment, from small suricates (meerkats) to famous, African „Big Five”. Fantastic opportunity for wildlife photography!

Distance: around 250 km, on gravel and tar roads.

Meals: breakfast, dinner.

Day 3

After breakfast, we are travelling south-east to Hluhluwe Game Reserve and Saint Lucia Nature Reserve on the way admiring scenic landscape of the smallest kingdom on Earth, Swaziland. Mountainous Swaziland is rich in most precious natural resource on Earth – water.

Accommodation: for 2 nights at the hotel.

Distance: around 600 km, on tar roads.

Duration: around 9 hours.

Meals: breakfast, dinner.

Day 4

At the reserve: morning adventure with wildlife in an open vehicle. We are observing: giraffes, rhino, cheetah and many species of antelopes. After lunch, St. Lucia lake cruise to observe hippos, crocodiles and incredible variety of water birds of eastern South Africa.

Distance: around 150 km.

Day 5

Today after breakfast on route to Durban travelling through eastern, coastal regions. Short, drive-through, city tour with break for lunch. Afterwards travelling along the Indian Ocean coast to small, beach town Port Edward, which we reach late afternoon.

Distance: around 550 km, on tar roads.

Accommodation: for 1 night at the hotel.

Meals: breakfast, dinner.

Day 6

After breakfast, choice of optional activities:

Visit to the coffee plantation.

Water sports:

Motorboat ride

After morning activities, we are on our way to East London, situated around 650 km away.

Accommodation: for 1 night at beautifully situated country club hotel.

Distance: around 650 km, on gravel roads.

Day 7

In the morning, we are travelling along the Indian Ocean coast to Tsitsikamma National Park, on the way passing by one of the most spectacular regions of South Africa, the world-famous Garden Route. Accommodation at the hotel, beautifully located near waterfall and overlooking the ocean.

Distance: around 450 km on tar roads.

Meals: breakfast, dinner.

Accommodation: for 1 night with option of 2, for additional rest.

Day 8

After breakfast, travelling south-west to small coastal town George. On route optional attraction/activities:

Bungee Jumping (highest in the world)

Canopy Tour

Distance: around 400 km, on tar roads.

Accommodation: for 1 night.

Meals: breakfast, dinner.

Day 9

On our way to Cape Town, capital of Western Cape Province, travelling through scenic and picturesque farmlands. Arrival in Cape Town in the afternoon.

Before we leave George, possibility of optional activities:

Visit at the scenic formation of the Cango Caves.

Visit at the ostrich farm.

(note: optional attractions extend duration of travel between 3-4 hours and 120 km)

Day 10

We are starting the day with a visit at Cape of Good Hope, on route stop at the Penguin Beach near Simon’s Town and travelling through spectacular mountain pass to Hout Bay. In the afternoon, wine tasting at the farm near Franschhoek, small picturesque town famous for its colonial, Cape architecture.

Distance: around 300 km, on tar roads.

Meals: breakfast, dinner.

Day 11

Cape Town city tour, shopping and rest.

Distance: around 150 km, on tar roads.

Meals: breakfast, dinner.

Day 12

Depending what time is departure to Europe, possibility of optional activities:

Visit at Robben Island, historic museum (Nelson Mandela prison)

City tour.

Last shopping.

Visit at the „diamond-polishing works”.

Farewell from the international airport in Cape Town.

Distance: around 100 km, on tar roads.

Meals: breakfast.
